Big Dam Bridge 100 2013

Not the greatest picture, but here is George Hincapie cooling down after the 2013 Big Dam Bridge 100.

The Big Dam Bridge 100 is a staple in my race calendar.  It is a fun course that takes you up some steep hills and through some of the most beautiful parts of Central Arkansas.  On . . . → Read More: Big Dam Bridge 100 2013

King of the Hills

Part of my triathlon training schedule is Tuesday bike hill repeats with my triathlon club.  In general, these repeats are always held at the same location, Ft. Roots, but this past week they were moved to River Mountain Road due to some glass on the road.  Then, the inevitable discussion came up, which hill is . . . → Read More: King of the Hills

Two Rivers Time Trials 2013 — Part I

Aero helmets, skin suits, disk wheels and TT bikes are in abundance at this event, as they should be.  It’s the Two Rivers Time Trial Series.

I have heard and seen pictures about this series for the last two years, but I had never attended.  Why? Well, probably because I was intimidated.  I thought for . . . → Read More: Two Rivers Time Trials 2013 — Part I

Capital City Classic 10K 2013

After completing the Little Rock Half Marathon at the beginning of March, I relaxed my running schedule and began incorporating cycling to get ready for the triathlon season which was fast approaching.  Unfortunately that meant that my fitness level wasn’t quite as high as I wish it would be for the Capital City Classic 10K, . . . → Read More: Capital City Classic 10K 2013

Raid the Rock 2012

It’s the end of the triathlon season. I had my A race, but by no means does that mean I hung up my running shoes. No, it just means that I get to have fun and cut loose. I can say that one of the best ways to do that is by competing in . . . → Read More: Raid the Rock 2012

Big Dam Bridge 100 2012

I’m crazy. Totally and utterly, crazy.  A week out from my first ever 70.3 and I decided to do a 100 bike ride. Totally sane, right?

We’ll it actually wasn’t too bad.  I got a lot of sleep and took in a lot of calories the week after Redman because I knew the Big Dam . . . → Read More: Big Dam Bridge 100 2012

Firecracker Fast 5K

This was the first year that Phil and I have spent July 4th in Little Rock and it was kind of a bummer not to go down to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi, like we normally do, but it was also kind of cool because we finally got to participate in the Firecracker Fast 5K.  . . . → Read More: Firecracker Fast 5K

Three Bridges Ride

Using my new GoPro camera, I documented the ride Phil and I did on Sunday.  This video condenses our 37 mile bike ride into just a little over 2 minutes.  We rode over three different pedestrian bridges in Little Rock, the Two Rivers Bridge (twice), the Big Dam Bridge and the Clinton Bridge.  Check it . . . → Read More: Three Bridges Ride

My Gym Closed, Where Now?

Well, it was an end of an era here in Little Rock when on December 31st, 2011 the Westside YMCA (the last remaining YMCA in Central Arkansas) closed.  At one point there were as many as six YMCA’s in Little Rock and now…none.  For me this was very disappointing not only because I’m a member . . . → Read More: My Gym Closed, Where Now?

Race for the Cure 2011

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you to everyone who supported me in my fundraising goals for Race for the Cure.  With your help, I was able to raise $155 for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, more than my goal!  Simply amazing!

As for the race itself, it was great for so many . . . → Read More: Race for the Cure 2011
